Duke Gardens (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hr.duke.edu\/dukegardens\/directions.htm\">map and directions<\/a>)<br \/>\n<strong>Contact  Information:<\/strong> Patrick Stawski, 919-660-5823 or <a href=\"mailto:patrick.stawski@duke.edu\">patrick.stawski(at)duke.edu<\/a>, or Kirston Johnson, 919-681-7963 or <a href=\"mailto:kirston.johnson@duke.edu\">kirston.johnson(at)duke.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.troublethewaterfilm.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px;float: right;cursor: pointer;width: 230px;height: 339px\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/rubenstein\/files\/2010\/12\/ttw.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a> As Hurricane Katrina bore down on New Orleans, 9th Ward resident Kimberly Rivers Roberts, an aspiring rap artist, and her husband Scott, used their Hi 8 camera to film their experience of the storm, from the trepidation of the day before the storm&#8217;s landfall to the failing of the levees. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.troublethewaterfilm.com\/\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Trouble the Water<\/span><\/a> weaves  this home movie footage with archival news segments and verite footage shot over the next two years to tell the story of a community struggling to rebuild itself.<\/p>\n<p>The film screening will be <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">preceded<\/span> by a panel discussion with Wahneema Lubiano and Mark Anthony Neal, both of Duke\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/aaas.duke.edu\/\">Department of African and African American Studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Rights! Camera! Action! film series, which is sponsored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/library.duke.edu\/specialcollections\/human-rights\/index.html\">Archive  for Human Rights<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/library.duke.edu\/specialcollections\/collections\/photography.html\">Archive  of Documentary Arts<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/humanrights.fhi.duke.edu\/\">Duke  Human Rights Center<\/a>,  the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fhi.duke.edu\/\"> Franklin Humanities Institute<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/fvd.aas.duke.edu\/screensociety\/\">Screen\/Society<\/a> at Duke&#8217;s<span class=\"eventContact\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/fvd.aas.duke.edu\/\">Arts of the Moving Image Program<\/a>, <\/span>features documentaries on human  rights themes that were award winners at the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fullframefest.org\/\">Full Frame Documentary Film  Festival<\/a>.
