The importance of open science for the public good is more relevant than ever and scientific research is increasingly happening at scale. Relatedly, journals and funding agencies are requiring researchers to share the data produced during the course of their research (for instance see the newly released <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/notice-files\/NOT-OD-21-013.html\">NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy<\/a>). In response to this growing and evolving data sharing landscape, the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.repository.duke.edu\/\">Duke Research Data Repository<\/a> team has partnered with Research Computing and OIT to integrate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globus.org\/\">Globus file transfer system<\/a> to streamline the public sharing of large scale data generated at Duke. The new RDR features include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A streamlined workflow for depositing large scale data to the repository<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/data\/files\/2021\/02\/Globus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2741\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/data\/files\/2021\/02\/Globus-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/data\/files\/2021\/02\/Globus-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/data\/files\/2021\/02\/Globus-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.library.duke.edu\/data\/files\/2021\/02\/Globus.jpg 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>An integrated process for downloading large scale data (datasets over 2GB) from the repository<\/li>\n<li>New options for exporting smaller datasets directly through your browser<\/li>\n<li>New support for describing and using collections to highlight groups of datasets generated by a project or group (see <a href=\"https:\/\/research.repository.duke.edu\/collections\/xs55mc52v?locale=en\">this example<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Additional free storage (up to 100 GB per deposit) to the Duke community during 2021!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While using Globus for both upload and download requires a few configuration steps by end users, we have strived to simplify this process with <a href=\"https:\/\/research.repository.duke.edu\/help#globus\">new user documentation and video walk-throughs<\/a>.
